Users of AutoCAD 2004-based products who have installed the Express Tools may encounter problems when they attempt to access Help from the Express Tools System Variable (SYSVDLG) dialog box.

Description of Problem

A problem can occur when users run the SYSVDLG command of the Express Tools. In the Express Tools System Variable dialog box, in the list, when you select ACADPREFIX and then click Help, a fatal error message is displayed. After dismissing the error message, the AutoCAD Error Report dialog box displays. You are then prompted to send an error report to Autodesk. The AutoCAD session fails.

Solution

The updated sysvldg.arx file addresses the product session failure that is triggered by the SYSVDLG command of the Express Tools.

To install and use the updated sysvdlg.arx file

  1. Close all other applications and log in to Windows® as Administrator.
  2. Download the file to a temporary directory.
  3. In the Express folder in the directory where your AutoCAD 2004-based product is installed, you should rename sysvdlg.arx. Right-click sysvdlg.arx, click Rename on the shortcut menu, and then enter a new name (for example, sysvdlg.bak).
  4. In the temporary directory, right-click sysvdlg.arx and click Copy.
  5. In the Express folder in your AutoCAD 2004-based directory, right-click, and then click Paste.
